About Me

Barret Walz, a native of Kentucky, began his performance studies in Music. He received his Bachelors from David Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN where an intense Liberal Arts education gave him lots of one on one instruction in small and interactive performance groups. Barret later received his M.M. (Masters of Music) in Opera from DePaul University in Chicago. He went on to perform professionally with established companies such as Light Opera Works in Chicago and The Minnesota Opera in Minneapolis. He has performed major roles in Madame Butterfly, Faust, and The Marriage of Figaro to name a few.

After singing for many years, a greater interest in Theater and Film developed. The more intimate style of film acting, versus the somewhat broader style of opera and musical theater seemed liberating. He transitioned into film work after absorbing the wealth of theater and film instruction that Chicago had to offer. The Tony award winning Victory Gardens Theater and The Actor’s Center were just some of his training experiences.

He has since worked on many film, television and commercial projects.  Much of his award winning work has premiered in the major festivals throughout the world including Bali International, Raindance, Chicago International, Austin, and the LA Shorts to name just a few.  He was awarded Best Actor for his work in Pickman's Muse at the Chicago Horror Film Festival, which included over 50 international films. He also just rejoined the Chicago P.D. cast for another shoot.

Aside from acting, he enjoys traveling and loves trying unique delicious foods from all cultures.
